Well it’s Yeezy Season, and this week’s release news has been dominated by the Pirate Black Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Low. But it hasn’t just been the community consumed with Yeezy talk. Instagram and twitter feeds have been flooded by small-time sites trying to capitalize on the hype running “raffles” for their 5-12 pair having fans jump through hoops like a circus animal.
Meanwhile the Dorenbecher-esque Jordan Retro 9 “Statue”, aptly named for it’s copper look similar to MJ’s statue at United Center, seems to be getting almost no hype. Due to it’s copycat nature, or simply because it’s overshadowed by the Yeezys, we don’t know. Heck maybe it’s just due to the waning popularity of the Jumpman’s brand due to quality issues, lack of online release availability and skyrocketing prices. Either way, this weekend will be buzzing and twitter won’t be sleeping.
