The Jordan Retro 3 ’88 Returns in 2018

The Jordan Retro 3 OG ’88 was a real oddity when it first released in 2013. Replacing the Jumpman logo on the heel with the original Nike Air branding was a hit and led to Jordan repeating the look on several releases in the following years.

Now the colorway that started it all is back with a few updated features. 2018’s version of the Jordan Retro 3 White Cement “1988 Dunk Contest” features a translucent sole, with the free-throw line cutting across the left shoe at the exact spot Jordan took off for the infamous dunk.

There is more iconography included in this release. In 2013 Nike released the colorway at 3:51 in the morning as a nod to the time of MJ’s dunk. In 2018 they pay homage with the time displayed subtly on the back heel tab. On the tongue you’ll find the number “147” marking Michael Jordan’s total points in the 88 slam dunk contest.
